The pear shielded by the Protected Designation of Origin "Pera de Jumilla" is the Ercolini variety. Cultivated in Jumilla, located in the Region of the High Plateaus od Murcia.
This location that provides with privileged agroclimatic conditions for this growing, combined with know-how of farmers and the use of bitechnology, give rise to a fresh fruit with sweet aromas, very juicy and sugary, with an an attractive reddish tinge on its most sun-facing side.
Jumilla is the largest producer of Ercolini pears in all Spain and Europe, and achieves the best fruits in terms of size, sweetness, stem thickness, rounded pearshape, productivity, conservation and earliness of the harvest (end of Junebeginning of July).
Its quality is distinct from other producing regions, with a value that is recognised by the market.
